Fourteen creative Hedland students received prizes in the Port Hedland International Airport’s art and story competition with year seven student Natthanon (Nat) Siamsak taking out the top prize and winning a $1000 travel voucher for him and his family.
Mayor Kelly Howlett said an impressive 222 art and story entries were received as a part of the competition.
“Hedland students blew us away with their amazing artwork and creative story entries – it was a really tough choice to decide on a winner,” she said.
“I congratulate Cassia Primary School year seven student Nat Siamsak on his win.
“We picked Nat’s entry because it represented the theme – my favourite thing about airports – and was a great snapshot of all the exciting things that happen at airports.
“His detailed and interesting artwork captured the thrill of a plan taking off and the magic of holiday destinations.”
Students were asked to draw their favourite thing about airports or write about their best travel experience for their chance to win a $1000 travel voucher and other great prizes.
The entries were judged against four criteria – creativity, interest, use of colour, and relationship to the theme ‘my favourite thing about airports’.
