A combined focus and unified work approach continues to drive the works at Port Hedland International Airport.
Airport staff and tenants along with contractors Jaxon Construction, MSS and North West Aviation Services have collaboratively worked to achieve the transition to the new international flight arrangements since Saturday 4 April.
Town of Port Hedland Mayor Kelly Howlett said that she was delighted to see the improvements being made at Port Hedland International Airport.
“While the work isn’t over yet, it is exciting to watch the changes and developments progress stage-by-stage as we work on the expansion opportunities at our airport” said Mayor Howlett.
“It is anticipated that the finishing touches will be made to the airside extension and work on the landside offices will be ramped up this week.
“Within the departure lounge there will be new bathroom facilities available near Gate 2, painting works will be concluded and a new quarantine office in the international arrivals area will be complete.
“Meanwhile the expansion of landside office spaces continues with wall framing, servicing and gyprocking expected to be completed by the end of the month and external cladding twill be underway.
The stage 2 Terminal Renovations are due to be completed mid-May.
The Town of Port Hedland thanks you for your patience as we build a bigger terminal for more passengers, a better customer experience and larger international planes.
